Longton Exchange supports Purple Tuesday

Purple Tuesday inspires the leadership and staff of organisations of all sectors and sizes to promote awareness, develop understanding, and implement solutions for better accessibility in their customer environments.

The Purple Tuesday movement is highlighted each year by a celebratory day, the first Tuesday of November, also known as Purple Tuesday. In 2021, the celebration in the United Kingdom reached over 19 million; involved over 7,000 social media conversations; and received over 270 pieces of broadcast and print media. Purple Tuesday resonates with businesses and the community.

This Purple Tuesday, we have made a commitment to being a more inclusive space for the local community by becoming a registered disability-confident committed and disability-confident employer.

We continue to be committed to ensuring all of our team members are trained in four key areas over the next coming months. This will include Worldhost customer service, Autism training, Dementia friend, and Mental Health First Aid. All of these training courses will be available to the volunteers of the Little Longton Book Exchange (LLBE) in addition to the centre’s retailers.

To support this initiative, our centre staff have shared their support with a photo opportunity and by wearing ‘We Support Purple Tuesday’ merchandise!
